SSS Tagbilaran Branch Contact Number

Tagbilaran is a component city of the island province of Bohol. It has a total land area of 3,061 hectares and a population of more than a hundred thousand living in 15 barangays. Tagbilaran was separated from the town of Baclayon and established as a town by then Governor of the Visayas General Don Francisco Antonio Calderon de la Barca on February 9, 1742. It then became part of Bohol province and became its only city on July 1, 1966 by virtue of R.A. 4660 otherwise known as the “Charter of the City of Tagbilaran”.

Tagbilaran City played and important part in Philippine history. The historical event happened on March 16, 1565 in the coast of Bool now a district of Tagbilaran. The historical event I’m talking about is the famous “Blood Compact” between Datu Sikatuna, a native chieftain and Captain Miguel Lopez de Legaspi, the Spanish explorer and colonizer. This momentous event was later immortalized on canvas by the famous Filipino painter Juan Luna. And to commemorate this historical event, a marker was erected on the spot where Sikatuna and Legaspi allegedly sealed the treaty with their own blood. Later on in 1953, former President Elpidio Quirino established the “Order of Sikatuna” to honor this treaty of friendship. The Order of Sikatuna is a presidential award and decoration given to visiting foreign dignitaries.

At present, Tagbilaran City plays an important role in Bohol’s commerce and industry due to its close proximity to the major port cities in the Visayas and Mindanao including the capital city of Cebu. Tagbilaran also has an airport that serves as an entry point to the city and the entire province of Bohol. This route is serviced by Cebu Pacific, PAL Express, AirAsia Zest, and Tigerair Philippines.

With its strategic location and accessibility, the province of Bohol offers an investment climate that is advantageous for both local and foreign investors. And with favorable business climate comes more employment opportunities for the residents of Tagbilaran City, Bohol. And with this scenario, the need for a dependable social security which is the reason why the SSS or Social Security System put up the SSS Tagbilaran Branch.
